Everything Fun To Do In Denver This Weekend

You may have noticed that it’s hot outside. Like super-scorching, uncomfortably hot. Luckily, we’ll get a bit of a reprieve this weekend, which means you can do fun outside things—Big gay field day! Axe throwing! Live music!—without completely melting into the concrete. Or stay in and dance to Boyz II Men and eat lobster toast. That works too.

Get your groove on at the Juneteenth Music Festival

Friday - Saturday

Five Points

Juneteenth, the June 19 holiday celebrating the emancipation of enslaved people in the US, is extra special this year, and not just because last year’s music festival was reduced to a single-day virtual event. This year’s celebration marks the first that Juneteenth is officially commemorated in Denver, so expect a little extra at this year’s festivities, which include an R&B Summer Kick Off at Levitt Pavilion, a Saturday morning parade, and weekend-long street festival.

Cost:

Free entry to festival and parade; from $29.50 for the Kick Off concert

Shop for outdoor gear at the Glamp AF Market at Dairy Block

Friday, 3 - 8 pm, Saturday, 11 am - 5 pm

Dairy Block

Could there be a more Colorado pop-up market? The Glamp AF Market is outdoor-oriented, which means you can shop vendors selling everything you need to look good camping, biking, hiking, and fishing all summer long.

Celebrate Pride early at Liberation Day

Sunday, 10 am - 6 pm

Cheesman Park

Could there be a better way to kick off your Sunday than with big gay field day? Celebrate Denver’s diversity with games, music, minority-owned food trucks, and community speakers before marching to Civic Park, where the focus shifts to social justice with speakers and a vigil for the queer and BIPOC lives lost to violence this year.

Honor dad (and lobster) at a Father’s Day brunch

Sunday, 11 am - 3 pm

DTC and Larimer Square

Ocean Prime isn’t typically open for brunch, but they’re making an exception for dad. The special Father’s Day brunch menu includes lobster toast, crab benedict, and braised short rib surf & turf. Because come on, dads like brunch too.

Get your frustration out with a little axe throwing

Friday-Saturday, 10 am - 9 pm, Sunday, 10 am - 8 pm

Elyria-Swansea

Mixing a tiki bar and axe chucking may not sound like the best idea, but hear us out. Class Axe Throwing knows what they’re doing, and they give you and up to 10 friends a safety lesson before letting you loose with the sharp instruments at their Sweaty Yeti outdoor axe throwing pop-up. If doing more lumberjack-y things was on your bucket list for 2021, come shoot your shot.

Cost:

$32.99 per person
